General purpose

･Bit, end mills, bores, blades for band saw machines or industrial tools requiring high hardness and sharp edges, woodworking tools; especially suitable for punching tools with clear heat generation.

HM42 HSS features
･Super-high hardness high-speed steel (HRC68); has extremely well-performing high-temperature hardness and wear resistance. Although the cobalt content is high, it still has good toughness.
･Although the material has high hardness, it also has excellent machinability at the same time. Special grinding stones are not needed to guarantee the completion precision of the product.
･Good hardenability; suitable for self-cooling quenching in vacuum furnaces or gas furnaces by adding nitrogen, and has good machinability.
･Lower quenching temperature also has energy saving effects.

Hardness of HM42 HSS
65~68 HRC

Quenching of HM42 HSS 
･Preheating: 550~600℃, secondary heating to 900℃
･Quenching: 1160~1200℃
･Quenching time: Until the center of the heat-treated workpiece is fully heated.

Tempering of HM42 HSS
･Tempering temperature: 540~580℃.
･Tempering times: Please implement at least three times.
